Yep, these radio's were top end luxury items back in the day. For someone to lay out that kind of money was a big deal and the currency conversion to 2012 is nothing to laugh at

I just got one a few months ago but paid $100. Mine is like new with box and all too. No discoloration like these usually have. Check your PM too 
. When I bought my first brand new RX5010 in 83' it cost me $50 on sale at Venture. Here is difference with age

They may not have been feature loaded but the looks spoke of quality and elegance. Panasonic really has a knack for that on their simplest boxes and these are no different. Congrats!
