    Wanted JVC M70

The US boxes have the Aux In, while for most models including m70, the Europe versions have Din In - which I'm not sure can work just with a cable adaptor if you want to plug in your phone / laptop / sound card. The Japanese boxes can be imported for a lower overall price but they have FM only...

JVC straps. Available subject to remaining buckles left from Blu_Fuz.

New to the forum (great forum by the way, I especially enjoy the m90 trails) - been reading a lot but I think I am not allowed to PM yet so posting here: I am also interested in a m70 strap if there are any left. @Superduper can you PM me please?

    JVC M71 tape play issue

Capstan shaft clearance is normally 1.00 mm to 1.50 mm. I've worked on M70 deck many times and totally swapped a deck mechanism without electrical components from our caution. The deck on my M70 collections had a problem with the record button not going down and stay there. Later I fixed that...

    JVC M71 tape play issue

I had an M70 and an M71 and both had the cracked retainer that Transistorized referred to. Both were the ones under the capstan flywheel. If you look in BBL48's picture, both of those round wheels with the three tipped metal pieces are what we're referring to. They have springs underneath the...

    JVC RC-656

Not having a full auto stop itself shows it's a very basic deck mechanism. No match to M70 deck!

An observation and my opinion on tape speed

...only to notice that it is playing faster after a while and needs a follow up adjustment. This becomes more annoying on something like the M70. A complete disassembly is needed to adjust it's speed unless you have the Victor M70 or the M75 where you can get by with the pitch adjustment knob on...

I remember the day I discovered the treble issue on the right channel. That was a sad day, but I knew that I had to wait for a day where I woke up with the patience for this. Today, I woke up and glanced at this radio in the corner of my room and I instantly knew, it was time and that I was in...

...feelers are identical so I just cannibalize the innards to rebuild trashed ones. One stereo slider has both a left and a right feeler suitable to rebuild either the bass/treble on the M70/838 or the balance slider on the 838 or the mono L/R feelers too on the volume and record level sliders.

It's worth it's weight in gold if you can take it out and use it without the stress involved in taking something nice and worrying about it getting scratched up or dirty .

Very true. Every single M70 I have opened has enough fuzz on top of the cassette mech to make a sweater. Every control is just waiting for dust and debris to make their way into the radio. When I store my M70s, I always lay the strap over the controls so the dust won't be as likely to make it in...

Reconditioning pots and sliders ain't no joke, one bad move with those feelers and the show's over.

Believe it or not the only m70 I've ever seen in person was the one I had. I only paid 40 bucks for it and it was 39 bucks too much after I got it lol. This thing looked like it was stored in a chicken coup. I also bought an mx920 from the same seller and it must have come from the same chicken...

What I meant to say was the right side volume slider didn't work. It was just stuck in place.

Hey Floyd, curious what you're referring to because the M70 has no balance slider, just left and right volume sliders

I love a good beater box. The one m70 I did own had a bad balance slider and I'm just too clumsy to work on these lol.

It indeed is an M70 slider Floyd. This is the treble slider that a wiper got loose on. This is a beater box that has been patched, glued and has a few minor issues. This slider was one of them. I could do the rest while I've got it apart but the others are working for now, and this thing is...

Do those fit the RC838 too, or just the M70?

    Wanted JVC M70

When it comes to changing belts, the M70 is probably the easiest boombox to work on. Like Audio Augie suggested, perhaps look for one that needs belts, and hopefully get a better deal.
