Looking great Norm. In case you were wondering what JVC boxes have the slot for the JVC strap, here is a current list and there could be others: M50 M60 M70 M71 M75 M80 RC-636 RC-717 RC-727 RC-828 RC-838 RC-838 Series II

    Wanted JVC M70

When it comes to changing belts, the M70 is probably the easiest boombox to work on. Like Audio Augie suggested, perhaps look for one that needs belts, and hopefully get a better deal.

    Read, Heard, Tested....GPO box

At first I was hesitant on posting about this, but then yesterday I took my GPO to a BBQ. I felt more confident about taking it opposed to my M70 and/or RX 5030. Not fearing if something happens to it. Honestly, I dont use the cd player at all! I prefer cassette operation. Although, I have used...

    Aiwa CS-600 Questions

It's a more difficult unit to work on because unlike other units that have plug in components Aiwa has a lot of hardwired components. I've worked on a lot of Aiwas. This one is not terrible to do. Hope this helps you out. Here's mine.

Sansui stereo is not rare here in the UK - Sold under the Roberts brand & in Europe under many names! Always a few on eBay UK....Roberts RSRT-50 I think - they are a good generic machine, reliable if not a little underwhelming!

Will boomboxes marked 240v/220v/110v AC and 50/60 Hz work without a problem on United States power outlets?

I have a M70 that has 110V selector. My house voltage is 121 on average. While it's not a clean sound, the amp chip does seem to eek out a little louder distorted sound wide open compared to my 120V models :-)

Have you worked on the model before? How do they compare to other popular boomboxes like the JVC RC-M70, etc? Much more difficult?

    You Rest...You Rust!

Thank you both. It's nice to relax and enjoy it this evening 8-) When I cracked the case, the smell of chlorinated circuit boards filled the room. Not sure what the manufacturing process of these boards are, but they are still outgassing 40 years later..lol. I actually like the smell albeit...

    JVC-M70 cassette issue

OK thank you that sounds good. I’ll watch it the link. I’ll look at it. I might try to do it myself. If not, I can convince my friend to do it if he doesn’t have to take out the deck.
