...The plastic shrinks and splits under its own tension. I've been fortunate enough to not have this happen yet, but this will eventually be in all M70's future...
This is probably a bad thing, am I right?
Unfortunately, I don’t have spare parts. Is this a job for epoxy, or would that be too much for such a sensitive part?
Does anyone make these?
Hey Folks.
Looking for one antenna for my M70. Direct replacements/swaps from other boxes work as well. Sources outside BB are welcome.
Any help is appreciated.
Mikey.
@Transistorized , here is the link to the thread by Melly about that story. I didn't realize it was 15 years ago.

I checked.
As a member, you can download the complete M70 owners manual AND service manual, both in .pdf format, from here on the site.
I tell everyone that repairing these units is a lot easier than you think. But that’s just me.
...a few times on the forums. I might have to get him to tell me that one.
Norm is a stand-up guy along with many others here. He rebuilt one of my M70 Alps tone boards. The next M70 I got needed the treble pot fixed, I decided to tackle it and was successful! I have also gotten a strap and a...

Place it on a soft towel or soft surface when you work on it to avoid scratches to your beautiful M70.
Make sure to take pictures as you dismantle, and this will guide you to put it all back together correctly.
Lots of patience and good planning...
New to the forum. Not a collector. I am the original owner of this awesome box. Bought it new in ‘80 or ‘81. Don’t remember.
My goal is to get it reconditioned. Needs a tuneup. Everything works, but audio is staticky. Switches/knobs sluggish. Belts need changing. Need antenna. Cleaning, etc...
Many will say that the RC-M90 is the best JVC boombox, but if you can find a nice RC-M70, you will not regret it at all. The M70, in my opinion, is easier to work on than the M90. Also, the JVC RC-838 is a nice boombox.
You are exactly right. There are quite a few screws, but none for the upper center emblem. I had actually thought of using a piece of wood, maybe 1/8" thick, and screwing it to the inside of the emblem, with the screw heads on the outside. I tried hot glue. But, that wasn't good. Any...
...I pulled the trigger when I had the chance. Amazing tuner reception even though there isn't an external antenna. Sounds really good. Like JVC M70 good. With the right song, almost knocks on the door of M90 quality sound. Some say it outperforms the M90, but I can't seem to get to that...
I have never auditioned the Telefunken. But I have heard of it. That German engineering appeal impresses many people. I don't buy into that idea as much. I have to hear the unit and see how it performs, for myself. A brand name just isn't enough.
As I remember, the big boomboxes began to...
...everyone's itch.
For indoor enjoyment, I like the M90 and my RX-7000. For outdoor jamming, I like the C100. For portability & power, I like the M70.
My opinion on boomboxes, are that you generally can't go wrong with a JVC or Matsushita product. They have the best bang for the buck and tend...
I’ve just remanufactured the FF and Rewind Clutch plate/cap for my JVC KD-21 deck, and it appears to be the same part used in the RC-M70.
I’m looking for someone who can test my 3D-printed part on their RC-M70. Please DM me if you're interested.
I’ll send it for free, and you’ll just need to...
Happy to know you figured out the problem!
Good job!
Never give up!
After 5 years, one fine day I found the problem with a JVC M70 record button not engaging (won't go down).
I spend lots of time in the past, got so frustrated and finally got an M70 donor deck from our member Eric (caution) to...
