eBay Blockbuster

I just wanted to post this eBay in case anyone here is looking at it or has bid on it. The price is already fairly high (IMO) albeit in great cosmetic condition. We all know the issues these suffer from (cassette and meters) and this appears to not be an exception from what I can see.

The one thing that I wanted to draw to anyone's attention who might be bidding is the VU meters. In the photo they appear to be working, but the power cord is laying next to it. So I thought, okay, maybe they're running it on batteries. But then I noticed the power light isn't on either and it is extremely unlikely that LED is burnt out or malfunctioning. Not that it's impossible. Assuming it's on, the selector is set to FM Stereo and there is also no stereo light. Maybe the power light is out and the radio either does not receive stereo or the station is weak and/or isn't being broadcast in stereo.

I'm not saying this is a dishonest or shady listing. I am just saying, if you are bidding on this and paying over 300 hundred dollars for it, you may want to verify with the seller that the VU meters aren't both stuck, that the radio receives stereo signal in addition to the cassette deck issues. To be clear, this isn't to knock the listing, it was just an observation I noticed from the photos.

I always view any listing suspect when there are lots of steady bids by one user to incrementally drive up the price. Not to say it’s definitely something unscrupulous going on, as eBay doesn’t make it easy anymore to do the Sherlock by hiding bidders. But that’s what happens when you take away transparency, people start to develop suspicious eyes.

Nice shape, even the battery foam which looks original.
Shipping is pretty cheap too.
It's definitely odd that the needles are sitting dead center in every pic.
