Using a direct drive turntable attached to the Sanyo m-x650k vía an Aux attachment at the turntable phono out (it’s only capability beside the headphone jack) and RCA red and white at phono in on the boombox. Everything sounds pretty clear except I’m getting a lot of buzzing in the background which is more pronounced with increased volumes. I’ve cleaned out all ports with a cotton swab. Could it be the stylus is picking up the direct drive motor noise from the turntable? There’s a Ground screw at the back of the boombox, but nothing at the turntable. Should I try placing a basic wire at the ground screw?

Have you tried putting the switch on "Line In" and checking that? Be sure to set volume at zero first - just in case.

Thanks for the input on this. I did actually and it doesn’t produce sound. The turntable only works in the phono in. I think I need to put a wire on the ground screw. I also found a “ground loop isolator” on a YouTube video I watched, might work without having to attach a ground wire on the back of the boombox. No place for a ground attachment on the turntable.
