Hello,

Can I safely use Deoxit for removal of the crackling noise by the volume button?
And is the button itself easily removable without opening the box itself?

Just 2 sprays and good to go?

Thanks

Once you get the lubricant inside of it it will probably fix the problem but you have to do some dismantling to get to these things.

Dismantling is safe without breaking a button?
I mean do they come off when applying some force or will it wreck and destroy?

The boards that the volume pot and the function switch are mounted to or secured to the front panel via bolts that are attached to the shaft of the pots meaning you can't remove those boards to lubricate the pots unless you remove the graphics panel and nuts on the volume pot are similar to those on an old shaft mount car stereo.

So the volume nuts can be pulled off without breaking or damaging them?
They slide right off?

I don’t want to open the box because it’s totally not my expertise. I thought I’d Spray some deoxit from outside in.

Spraying from the front doesn't do any good because the liquid can't penetrate down into the areas where it's needed. Unfortunately on this model you have to take it apart to clean these pots.

Ok I don’t dare to take it apart.
I have no experience in this and don’t want to do more damage than good.

A decent screwdriver and it's truly less than 20 mins work (experience or not). It's the only way, pulling the knob cover and spraying that way will not penetrate the pot.

Ok
Opening the box and spraying the pot I will try than.
I hope in between the spiderweb of soldered threads that no springs come fly at me when opened :-))

But the knob on the front pulls right off?

No springs or anything funny. Be advised the front/back is connected by a tuner (yellow)/positive (red)/negative(black) spade plug (easy to locate from pics if they disconnect during opening).
