hiii there!!

i got an Aiwa trp 950 that i totally like but it has a problem with the standy-function..

the box only plays radio when i press the tapedeck Play or fastforward button, and its actually on standby an not turned on..
well i actually wouldnt give a s. but the tapedeck makes a lil noise while its running..

i actually havent opened the box before, ill still have to to clean the switches, soooooo does this sound like a typical problem with a simple solution to anyone ? :)

thanks in advance for any tips and hints, daniel

I had a 955 once and IF I remember correctly it had a little hidden switch on the left side of the box where it said "SLEEP ON ----- OFF"
That should be put to off to make it completely working  .
If not...probably clean the power switch with a little contact cleaner ;-)

ahhhhh thanks mmcodomino... but i guess cleaning that thing could do the trick.. ohhhhh hmmm i should look for that hidden switch, sounds like a "disable all traps" button in an indiana jones movie *g... yepp the potis are also in need of some cleaning and i allready had miracle experiences with my pana after cleaning it..

im using kontakt-spray the tuner 700 and gold 2000.. thats an amazing combination i found out after reading lots of hifi threads about the right sprays..

well im really curious if i find this hidden switch ;))

Same thing happened to my TPR-950 during shipping. Thanks to some help here I was able to fix the problem by tapping down that switch on the left side (below the power button) with my finger and letting it spring back up quickly.

That switch can get stuck in the stand-by positon sometimes. If you do it holding down the swtich and letting back up gently, it will not be enough "shock" to allow it to pop free.

Be careful not to bang down on the switch to break it...just tap down on it real fast, kind of like hitting the same key on a keyboard repeatedly... that should be enough...

Good luck! Aiwa TPR-950 is a great boombox! One of my all time favorites.
